Parent and Tot Classes (Ages 2 - 3)
Little Movers (2 – 3 years) A 45 minute introductory dance class containing creative movement in ballet, tap and acro. Young dancers will learn the basic steps while learning how to follow direction and imitate movement in a positive environment. Engaging music is used to get these little guys inspired to dance. The use of props such as Twinkle bears and hula hoops, enables the young dancers to use their imagination, creativity and, most of all, have fun! Our end-of-year goal is to transition all dancers to a class with no parents. If your child is ready on the first day, GREAT! If not, that’s alright too. We will work on their confidence together.
Tiny Tot & Primary Classes (Ages 4-5)
Tiny Tot Combo (Age 4) Primary Combo (Age 5) (Ballet, Tap & Jazz) A 45 minute class containing ballet, tap and jazz/creative movement. The purpose of the class is to introduce young dancers to the three styles of dance and inspire movement and creativity within a positive environment. Dancers will also learn basic steps and terminology in all three styles. For example, all dancers will learn what a “plie” is and how to demonstrate one. The use of fun, age appropriate music engages the young dancers’ minds and bodies. The use of props such as hula hoops for the “freeze dance” makes the end of class the most fun!
Tiny Tot Acro & Primary Acro A 30-45 minute class containing a short warm-up of cardio and strengthening for these young acrobatic dancers. Students will learn basic acro skills such as the Swan, Bridge, Cartwheel, Headstand and much more!
***Any student registering for Acro must also be registered for the Tiny Tot/Primary Combo class.*** Acro dances consist of many other ballet/jazz elements which are not taught in the Acro class (only in the Little Shakers Combo classes). In order to make the best use of our Acro class time, students must be familiar with the elements used for the acro dance choreography.
Jazz (Ages 6+)
Jazz dancing is energetic, fun and very technical. It consists of unique moves, big leaps and quick turns. To excel in jazz, dancers are recommended to take ballet, as it encourages grace, balance and share many of the same technical points.
Tap (Ages 6+)
Tap is an exciting form of dance in which dancers wear special shoes equipped with metal taps. Tap dancers use their feet like drums to create rhythmic patterns and beats. Tap is a style of dance perfect for students who want to learn rhythm, coordination and intricate footwork. Tap shoes are required for this style.
Ballet (Ages 6+)
Ballet is the base of all dance styles. It is a highly technical form of dance with its own French vocabulary. The skills in ballet class are first taught at the barre and then carry on to the centre for allegro work, pirouettes, adagios and travelling exercises.
Acro (Ages 6+)
Acro dance is a style of dance that combines dance technique with acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics. This program is designed to promote excellence in tumbling, flexibility, strength, balance and partner tricks. ***Students enrolling in Acro must also be enrolled in a Jazz, Ballet or Contemporary class*** Acro dances consist of many other elements which are not taught in the Acro class. In order to make the best use of our Acro class time, students must be familiar with the elements used for choreography.
Hip Hop (Ages 6+)
Hip Hop is a very energetic style of dance that focuses on beat, rhythm, freestyle and coordination. Using funk and your own style, it is a type of dance that came to us from New York City and Los Angeles. Our Hip Hop classes are fun and do not require any previous dance experience. Some basic Breakdancing is also incorporated into our Hip Hop classes.
Theatre (Ages 6+)
Theatre is a combination of Acting skills and theatrical dance performance that combines songs, lip-syncing, acting, and dance. The story and emotional content of the pieces are communicated through the music, movement and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole. Students will be expected to learn lines from a song by heart and coordinate the acting, dance and lip-syncing in the choreography. They will also explore Acting skills such as: Improvisation, Acting and Reacting, Emotional Substitution, Audition Techniques, Method Acting, Performing Techniques, Scene Studies, Ensemble Work, Cold Readings and Creative Writing to enhance their overall Theatre education and experience.
Aerial Silks and Hoops (Ages 7+)
These classes are geared to those who are interested in learning the techniques and skills of aerial silks and hoops, gaining both strength and flexibility. Beginner classes will begin with skills in silks and move into hoops. Classes are separated into either Silks or Hoops for the Intermediate level. Each class will work on 1 routines to perform in the year-end Recital and the skills learned may be used in other routine choreography.
Contemporary (Ages 6+)
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of modern, jazz, lyrical and ballet. It stresses versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict, structured nature of ballet. Contemporary dancers focus on floor work, using gravity to pull them down to the floor. Contemporary dance can be performed to many different styles of music. Modern is the study of technical movements brought to another level; a style that incorporates abstract movements. Contemporary is a more flowing style of dance using technical aspects of ballet and twisted lines.
Pointe (Ages 12+)
Pointe is an additional part of regular ballet class. Students aged 12yrs + who are interested in dancing on “Pointe” should speak with Miss Stephanie before beginning the dance season. Students with adequate technique, strength and balance will be assessed by Miss Stephanie to determine whether or not they are prepared to begin dancing on Pointe. Every student progresses at a different pace and some may require an extra year of demi-pointe (regular ballet class) before starting Pointe.
DANCEWEAR: Convertible dance tights (theatrical pink or white), black bodysuit (no shorts or ballet skirts)
SHOES: Students will be fitted for Pointe shoes by Miss Stephanie during class at the beginning of the season.

Vocal Classes
Group Vocal Classes
Kids & Adult Classes! The Group Vocal classes will explore many styles of singing:
- Bel Canto
- Musical Theatre
- Contemporary/Pop
The students will also gain knowledge and a better understanding on how to use various voice types, such as “head voice” and “chest voice”. These skills will help each student develop proper vocal techniques. Great attention will be given to breathing and vocal support and singing technique to ensure the students are not exacerbating their vocal apparatus. Through a variety of exercises and songs, students will work on developing their range as well as singing with greater ease by removing any tension they may unknowingly be using while singing. An introduction to rhythm, musical theory and developing the musical ear by adding harmonies into each performance will also be included in the weekly classes. Everyone and anyone can sing! We just need to ensure we’re doing it correctly, so get registered today and start your vocal training off right! Private lessons are also available on a limited basis.
